Three Of The Best Apps To Help Seniors In The Community

The seniors in our community have never been known to gravitate towards technology. They are always considered rather uncomfortable when dealing with phones and iPads. Even though this may well be true, there are plenty of older citizens that are keen on learning. They want to know how to make their life simpler with the new technology that has changed their community so greatly. A simple app on your phone could give you more independence at a fraction of the cost an alternative will.

Getting Started

There are plenty of non-profits and sessions that bring together the youth and the elderly to give senior citizens a foundation when it comes to technology. As alien as floppy disks and cassettes are to this generation, as are the gadgets of today to older citizens. There are plenty of free classes that are coming up all over the world. These give the elderly more control over their life. Teach Seniors Technology, for example, is a non-profit that began in 2013 based in West Valley, California now has over 50 volunteers and has even made their mark in other countries.

Apps that you should bet on

Plenty of senior citizens need constant reminders to take their medication or when to go for appointments. Instead of relying on other people to aid with your memory problems, relying on a simple device can make life a whole lot easier.

Park ‘n’ Forget: Whether you are 18 or 80, remembering exactly where you parked your car across seven different levels and various zones can be confusing. This app helps you remember where you parked your car. It will also tell you for how long. All you need to do is simply enter the colour and number of the floor you have parked on.

Pill Reminder Pro: This is relatively obvious after you read the name but a lifesaver quite literally in some situations. It is available on both the App store as well as the Play store. You simply enter the name of the pill, what time you need to have it and the days of the week. The app will automatically give the patient reminders for every pill on their list.

Pocket Physio: This simple app was introduced by Care UK. It has a series of physiotherapy exercises that patients can follow depending on their condition. The app offers exercises that are suited to people that are recovering from or getting ready for surgery. This could include hip replacements or even hand surgeries. It could be a cheap option that can make the entire process less stressful and prepare the patient better.
